Dr. Vibha Lama is a pulmonary researcher in the arena of lung transplantation and resident mesenchymal progenitors. Pioneering translational work from her laboratory has provided human evidence for the presence of lung-specific mesenchymal progenitor cells and elucidated their biological behavior in normal repair and fibrotic remodeling. Dr. Lama’s research is focused on understanding mechanisms of mesenchymal cell recruitment and differentiation, with a focus on pathways of cellular activation in fibrogenesis accompanying chronic allograft rejection.
