The overall goal of Dr. John Chang’s research program is to make fundamental discoveries that have the potential to result in new approaches to human health problems. Dr. Chang is focused on investigating basic immune mechanisms underlying lymphocyte fate determination in the context of infectious diseases and autoimmunity. His laboratory is also conducting translational studies in human patients to better understand the pathophysiology of the inflammatory bowel diseases and to identify new therapeutic targets for these diseases.
