Rozalina McCoy, MD MS is Associate Professor of Medicine and Associate Division Chief for Clinical Research in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Nutrition at University of Maryland School of Medicine. She also serves as the Director of Precision Medicine and Population Health in the University of Maryland Institute for Health Computing, where she leads a state-wide interdisciplinary research program focused on improving the health and wellbeing of the people of Maryland.

Dr. McCoy received her undergraduate degree at Harvard and medical degree at Johns Hopkins, was a NIH-HHMI research scholar at the NHLBI, and completed her training in internal medicine and endocrinology at Mayo Clinic. After joining faculty at Mayo Clinic, Dr. McCoy focused her clinical and research efforts on understanding and addressing gaps in care delivery for underserved, marginalized, and clinically complex populations. As medical director of the Mayo Clinic Ambulance Community Paramedic Service, she established community paramedicine as an agile, person-centered model of care that can bring a wide range of healthcare services to the community setting.

Dr. McCoy’s research leverages real-world data and advanced computational methods to improve the quality, accessibility, and sustainability of diabetes care on both the individual and population levels. She is particularly interested in understanding the multi-level factors that lead to poor glycemic control and diabetes complications, with the goal of developing precision medicine tools and patient-centered care delivery models to improve diabetes care and health outcomes for all people living with diabetes. Dr. McCoy’s contributions to the science of healthcare delivery and service to the community have been recognized with the Minnesota Rural Health Hero Award, Rochester Mayor’s Medical of Honor Human Services Award, E. Drewry Henderson Award from Zumbro Valley Medical Society, and the Award for Research Data Stewardship from the Future of Policy Forum, among others.
