Dr. Sadiya S. Khan is the Magerstadt Professor of Cardiovascular Epidemiology and tenured Associate Professor of Medicine and Preventive Medicine, and preventive cardiologist at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Khan's clinical expertise and research focus on the epidemiology, risk prediction, and prevention of cardiovascular disease. A key example of her impact in the field of preventive cardiology is her leadership in the development of the American Heart Association PREVENT model, which are more accurate than prior models, incorporate social determinants of health, and no longer utilize race as a proxy. This work represents a significant advance for cardiovascular disease prevention and Dr. Khan’s dedication to advancing equitable care in preventive cardiology. In aggregate, Dr. Khan's research efforts are supported by multiple R-and U-level grants from the National Institutes of Health and project awards from the American Heart Association. Dr. Khan has published over 330 peer-reviewed scientific research publications in leading medical journals and has an h-index of 46 (Scopus, September 2024). Her original science has been highlighted by the American Heart Association as among the Top Advances in Heart Disease and Stroke Research for four consecutive years (2020-2023). In addition, Dr. Khan serves in several key leadership roles within her institution (inaugural Director of the Center of Population Science and Aging in the Potocsnak Longevity Institute) and beyond (Chair of the AHA PREVENT Working Group, Associate Editor of JAMA Cardiology, and member of the Joint Committee on Clinical Practice Guidelines).
