As Vice Chair of Research for the Integrated Department of Surgery at MGB. Dr. Boland’s laboratory leads correlative immuno-oncology research in melanoma and gastrointestinal malignancies, with a focus on tumor–immune interactions, mechanisms of therapeutic response and resistance, biomarker development, and identification of novel targets. Her work has resulted in over 150 publications in leading journals, recognition with the MGH Martin Prize in Clinical Research (2022), and appointment as an MGH Research Scholar (2023-2028). She currently directs a diverse portfolio of federally, foundation, and industry-funded research, including major NIH, DOD, and ARPA-H projects, as well as a Massachusetts Life Sciences grant supporting translational infrastructure. Clinically, Dr. Boland is the MGB Cutaneous Surgery Program Leader, advancing clinical volume, quality initiatives, academic development, and philanthropic efforts. Nationally, Dr. Boland serves in leadership roles across the Society of Surgical Oncology, ASA, AACR, ASCO, SITC, MRF, and NCCN, contributing to national guideline development, research strategy, and translational science review.
