Dr. Kevin King is a physician scientist and engineer whose lab has two focuses - 1) They study cellular and molecular mechanisms of cardiac injury and repair using mouse models and human tissue leveraging single cell and spatial multi-omics. 2) They develop perform longitudinal monitoring of cardiopulmonary and sleep physiology in the hospital and the home, particularly using non-contact sensors, together with machine learning to identify clinical deterioration and facilitate care. Dr. King completed his MD/PhD in electrical engineering in the Harvard-MIT Health Science and Technology program. He did internal medicine training at Stanford, cardiology training at Mass General Brigham, and is now an Associate Professor of Medicine and Bioengineering at UC San Diego where he directs a basic and translational research laboratory and cares for patients in the CCU. He participates in the physician scientist community via MSTP and PSTP admissions, is an Associate Program Director of the Cardiology Fellowship, and is taking over the UCSD Molecular Cardiology T32 Training Grant.
