Cesar M. Castro, MD, MMSc is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Gynecologic Oncology Program at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Cancer Center. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and received his medical degree from the UCSF School of Medicine, where he also completed his Internal Medicine residency training. Dr. Castro completed an adult oncology fellowship from the Dana-Farber / Mass General Brigham Cancer Care program. During this period, he also received a MMSc from Harvard Medical School. He also directs the Cancer Program within the MGH Center for Systems Biology. Dr. Castro is a translational oncologist with deep experience developing and leveraging nanotechnology and molecular imaging approaches for solid tumor detection and serial profiling, with an emphasis on pauci-cellular biospecimens. He serves on the steering committee for the National Cancer Institute’s Liquid Biopsy Consortium. Dr. Castro is a standing member and an alternate Chair of the NIH Innovations in Nanotechnology and Nanosystems Study Section. Dr. Castro has received funding from the National Institutes of Health (R01, U01, P50), Department of Defense, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, among other sources. He holds six awarded patents and three patent pending inventions.
