Dr. Susan Domchek is the Basser Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, the Executive Director of the Basser Research Center for BRCA1/2, and the Director of the MacDonald Cancer Risk Evaluation Program at the Abramson Cancer Center. She is a medical oncologist whose research focuses on the management of women at high risk of breast cancer, particularly those with BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations. Her research has examined screening, prevention, outcomes, and therapeutics in such patients. In particular Dr. Domchek has studied the impact of salpingo-oophorectomy on the risk of breast and ovarian cancer as well its impact on overall survival. Dr. Domchek has served on the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Scientific Program and Education Committees and as faculty for ASCO and AACR-CTRC San Antonio annual meetings. She is a member of the Editorial Board of the NCI PDQ in Cancer Genetics as well as the FORCE Scientific Advisory Board. Her work has been published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Lancet, and Nature Genetics.
