Jason T. Huse, MD, PhD is a Professor in the Departments of Pathology and Translational Molecular Pathology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he also serves as Section Chief of Neuropathology. An expert in the diagnosis and molecular characterization of brain tumors, his research lab focuses on the molecular pathogenesis of primary glioma and brain metastasis, with a specific interest in epigenetic and transcriptional events underlying disease pathogenesis. For several years, his group has characterized therapeutically targetable mechanisms by which loss-of-function mutations in ATRX promote adult and pediatric glioma variants. More recently, his research program has incorporated initiatives characterizing metabolic and immune microenvironmental dysfunction in metastasis and along with causative epigenetic mechanisms. He plays leadership roles in multiple highly productive, glioma-focused, multi-institutional working groups, including the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), the Glioma Longitudinal Analysis (GLASS) Consortium, and Response Assessment in Neuro-oncology (RANO), and generally serves as a catalyst for impactful team science. Finally, he is heavily involved in extramural service with regard to editorial responsibilities at key journals, peer review for federal grants, and leadership roles with the Society for Neuro-oncology.
