Tamara Isakova, MD, MMSc, Fowler McCormick Professor of Nephrology, Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, Chief of the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, Department of Medicine, Director of the Center for Translational Metabolism and Health within the Institute for Public Health and Medicine (IPHAM),  Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine

Dr. Isakova conducts clinical research in the area of disordered mineral metabolism in chronic kidney disease and provides clinical care for patients with kidney diseases. She serves as the Chief of the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, directs the Center for Translational Metabolism and Health within the Institute for Public Health and Medicine, and leads the Chicago KUH FORWARD Training Core, an interdisciplinary city-wide research training program for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars interested in kidney, benign urology and benign hematology research. Dr. Isakova earned her medical degree from State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine and a master of medical science (MMSc) from Harvard Medical School. She completed internal medicine training at the Massachusetts General Hospital and nephrology training at the combined Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham & Women’s Hospital nephrology fellowship program. She has received research support from the American Kidney Fund, the American Heart Association, the American Society of Nephrology, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, and the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Isakova is a leader in research training and has mentored medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty, many of whom are developing independent research programs focused on improving clinical outcomes for patients with kidney diseases. For her mentorship efforts, Dr. Isakova has received several local and national awards.
