Dr. Gade is the Matthew J. Wilson II Associate Professor of Radiology Research and and Associate Professor of Cancer Biology in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and an Attending Interventional Radiologist in Interventional Radiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsyvlvania and the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz Philadelphia VA Medical Center. He serves as the Deputy Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Radiology and the Co-Lead of the Radiobiology and Imaging Program in the Abramson Cancer Center. He is the co-Director of the Penn Image-Guided Interventions Lab, the Kim Lab for Innovation in Image-Guided Interventions and the Metabolic Discovery Center at Penn. The focus of his research lies at the intersection of cancer biology, molecular imaging and image-guided interventions with the goal of characterizing native and treatment-related cancer biology in order to develop novel imaging approaches and advanced therapeutics in Interventional Oncology. Motivated by clinical deficiencies, this research seeks to go from bedside-to-bench and back again to further diagnosis and treatment with a primary focus on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). His work has led to prospective clinical trials that address fundamental clinical challenges and has been recognized by numerous awards including the first radiologist to receive the NIH Director’s Early Independence Award as well as the Society of Interventional Radiology’s Gary J. Becker Young Investigator Award.
