Meeta Prasad Kerlin, MD, MSCE, is Associate Professor of Medicine and the Vice Chair for Faculty Development in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She is also a core faculty member of the Palliative and Advanced Illness Research (PAIR) Center, and a Senior Fellow of the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics. Her primary research interests include optimizing the contribution of the intensive care unit (ICU) organization to outcomes of critical illness, implementation science with a focus on critical care interventions, and understanding the roles of the members of the interprofessional care team in quality of care and outcomes of ICU patients. She has led secondary data analyses, randomized trials, experimental implementation studies, systematic reviews, survey studies, and qualitative studies. Her research has also contributed foundational methods - including development of algorithms to assign clinicians to patients for outcome attribution and enhanced mortality prediction for risk adjustment – which have advanced not only her research program but critical care health services research more broadly.
